Abstract

Deutsche, britische und nordirische Museen positionieren sich als gesellschaftlich relevante Akteure. Sie widmen sich zunehmend demokratischen Werten wie Freiheit, Gerechtigkeit und Solidarität. Anhand von Fallbeispielen aus kulturhistorischen Museen analysieren die Beiträger*innen mit Blick auf Narrative, Symbole, Akteure und Präsentationsmodi, wie sich die Idee des »Museums« wandelt: Veränderungen, Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten machen länderspezifische Entwicklungen deutlich.
