The Newcastle University research output collection, currently available on ePrints, will shortly be moving to a new open repository platform, Figshare. To prepare for the data migration we have paused adding new content to ePrints, and will resume once the new repository is launched. During this time you will continue to have access to ePrints (but no new content will appear). We will share updates here when available.

Abstract

The ability to efficiently and reproducibly edit genomes using engineered nucleases is one of the major biological advances of the past few decades and is generating considerable excitement for those working in medical research, from investigators studying the molecular and cellular basis of disease through to those generating novel treatments via regenerative medicine and gene therapy. Genome editing is a technology that enables scientists to generate specific DNA modifications at preselected loci in the genome of living cells, with a high degree of specificity and without damaging the cell’s ability to function, replicate or differentiate.
