Abstract

An architecture of a hosting system is presented,where a number of servers are used to provide differenttypes of web services to paying customers. There arecharges for running jobs and penalties for failing to meetagreed Quality-of-Service requirements. The objective isto maximize the total average revenue per unit time. Dynamicpolicies for making allocation and admission decisionsare introduced and evaluated. The results of severalexperiments with a real implementation of the architectureare described.
