Abstract

Coastal change is of great concern to policymakers and the general public. Broad-scale models to capture represent these changes for strategic shoreline management are being developed, as illustrated by related abstracts submitted to this conference, including multiple simulations. To effectively store, analyse and disseminate these results new information systems need to be developed. Using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) technology critical results can be stored, allowing query and visualisation of coastal erosion model outputs. This provides a powerful means to assess possible coastal change in the future, as well as potential impacts at local and regional scale (e.g., Brown et al, 2004).
